Hi, I’m Olivia.
I work full-time, have a family, and still make travel a priority. Most of our trips are planned around real schedules, vacation days and everyday routines, whether that means stretching a long weekend into a quick escape or making the most of a few weeks away.
Life Outside the Inbox is where I share the places we’ve been, what was actually worth doing, where we stayed, what I would do differently, and the little details that made travelling easier.
Our trips aren’t built entirely around the kids, but they aren’t planned as if they’re not there either. We choose places and experiences we genuinely want to see, then find a pace that lets everyone enjoy the trip. Sometimes that means a beautiful hotel, a scenic drive or a great meal; other times it means knowing when to slow down and call it a day.
You’ll find honest hotel and cruise reviews, family-friendly itineraries, destination guides, travel tips and the things we’ve learned along the way. I’m not interested in making every trip sound perfect, if something was average, inconvenient or simply not worth the money, I’ll say so.
I’m based in Toronto, Canada, which also shapes how I plan and evaluate travel: flight availability, Canadian pricing, exchange rates, vacation time and whether an experience is really worth travelling for.
If you knew this site before, Life Outside the Inbox was formerly The Roadtrip Girl. The name changed, but the idea behind it grew into something broader, making room for the experiences that happen when we step away from work, routines and the inbox for a while.
If you’re planning your next trip, I hope something here makes it easier to decide where to go, what to book and what you can probably skip.
