2022: A Year in Review

It just doesn’t feel right to do a blog post in 2023 if I don’t do a 2022 year in review. But the saddest part about 2022 is that my phone did an auto reset and I lost allllllllllllll my photos :'(. ‘Did you back up your photos?’….no…..I didn’t trust the interwebz but I do now. Anyway, here it goes my 2022 year in review so I can remember for 2023 because 2023 is shaping up to be one of the most memorable year yet!

Winter

How did 2022 start? I can hardly remember without referencing any pictures and Carl takes so little! We started the year – Jan 1 to be exact – with a speeding ticket lol. We called it a 407 bill to make ourselves feel better about it. In the back of my head I thought, I hope this doesn’t reflect how this year goes and good thing it didn’t. It’s always about dealing with bad situations in a positive perspective. In the winter, we dedicated a lot of time watching F1 races and doing renos in the beginning before April when Carl was going to get his ACL surgery, which he recovered so quickly from.

Spring

In April, Carl got his ACL surgery and we also had to take Sassy to a ophthalmologist in Ottawa to get her eye assessed. We eventually opted for a enucleation for my poor girl. She’s #SingleEyedSassy now but we could tell she felt much better after. I was so worried about her for weeks. Sassy recovered quickly as well though.

Summer

Summer was when we got super busy with bachelorettes and weddings which was really nice! It felt like we were finally putting COVID behind us.

We had a great brunch and outing for Jen‘s bachelorette. We also had so much fun spending so much time together leading up to her wedding doing a bunch of arts and crafts like we were in the 3rd grade all over again. Jen’s wedding was in a beautiful vineyard in Niagara with the cheese-cake tower being my personal highlight (lol). For Sandy’s bachelorette, we stayed overnight in Blue Mountain and did goat yoga. Sandy hosted her wedding at Liberty Grand. I also got to host my very first Chinese door game before the tea ceremony. It was hilarious to watch grown men peeling a banana dangled from a broomstick. Then we headed out west for Ken’s wedding and got to spend 12 Days in British Columbia.

This year there were no food crawls for our wedding anniversary since we made another investment around August/September so we were busy with that arrangement. But that was super exciting!

Fall

I finally got a chance to visit the St. Jacob’s Farmer’s Market this year and it did not disappoint! We went once with my parents and then again on my birthday to get some local veggies and apple fritters. We also took our parents to the cottage and played a few intense rounds of monopoly. Towards the end of the season, we were able to fit in a single round of golf, I always miss it when I actually play.

Around this time, I also got promoted into an EV role at work. It’s been such a great experience so far and there’s so much growth and learning opportunity.

Winter

After spending time traveling in Vancouver, we were antsy to travel again. We had originally planned a Mediterranean cruise with Virgin Voyages in October/November but they couldn’t build the ship in time! So we opted for a shorter cruise from Miami to Bimini. I’m hoping I make time to post a Virgin Voyages review soon. We went on the cruise and stayed a few extra days in Miami which was nice.

And all that took us to Christmas!
