2019: Year in Review (in Photos)

2019, what a year. 2019 flew by and it’s time to take a breath to review and reflect. I always enjoy writing this type of blog post, it’s nice to read it again at the end of each year.

Winter & Spring

2019 started with a quick trip to Montreal where I attended the AutoShow for work, tried out many new food spots (Dan – breakfast poutine required for 2020) and then went to my first outdoor floating spa experience at Bota Bota.

In March, we went on vacation to Kona and Hilo in Hawai’i. The Big Island of Hawaii is a beautiful place but perhaps not quite my type of vacation. Lying around on the beach doing nothing almost felt a bit unproductive, I kept wanting to do more and see more.

While we were away in Hawaii, our agent sent us a listing of a beautiful house in the area we were considering. Once we got back, we saw the house and put in an offer the next day. The months that followed was a blur of cleaning, showings, packing, moving, renos, surviving having to move back in with my family for 2 months, renos, and more renos.

While I’m enjoying our new house, I frequently reminisce about our first home. From hosting dinner parties, celebrating milestones, and days spent just lounging around, we had so many (mostly) wonderful memories.

Summer & Fall

In between the busy days, we celebrated engagements, weddings of good friends and the arrival of a few cute babies. I even went to a few sporting events! There were multiple road trips, tried new restaurants and of course ended with the summer at the cottage. I also got to finally experience staying in a secluded microcabin back in October!

Winter (again)

While I want to save the details of our Winter 2019 travels for a separate blog post, we did take 3 weeks off in December to spend time in Hong Kong and Japan.

Reflections

I’m typing this blog post now on the last day of our vacation in Tokyo. At the end of 2018, I would not have guessed this is where I would be but yet here I am. I wonder where I’ll be next year when I type this again. I wonder what lessons I would have learned and what new experiences I would recount.

In 2020, we’ll be doing lots more traveling (of course) and we’re hoping to host many more highly anticipated seafood parties, hot pot parties and (soon to be introduced) Korean bbq parties lol. I’m really looking forward to many more happy memories we’ll make in our new home and in 2020.

I wish you all the best as well.
