This post comes a month late! But better late than never. Here’s my 2018 travels in review.
2018 started off relatively slow and most of the traveling I did was mostly for work. In January, I was in Montreal for the auto show and headed to Calgary for the Calgary Stampede in July. I had the opportunity to take a few days off and visited Banff for the first time. I talked about it a little in this post, it was largely disorganized but I got to see most of what Jen recommended.
As I write this post, I realized how many tiny adventures I went on this summer despite not going on longer vacations! A bunch of us spent hours on the lazy river and were drenched in rain while we ate snacks, we went to see the Incredibles in a drive in theater, visited new small towns in the area and attended some wonderful weddings. Of course I went to the cottage in Sauble Beach, relaxed and read a few good books and also hiked some amazing trails in Ontario with my pups.
Towards the end of the year, I decided to stop sitting around contemplating on where to go and booked a ticket to Hong Kong. While planning for Hong Kong, I also decided to go to Busan to ensure I visit somewhere new every year.
In Hong Kong, I tried some new restaurants, re-visited a lot of classics and traveled to many new places. Hong Kong never fails to feel like home. But fast paced Hong Kong can sometimes be a bit much, and Busan made the best balance.
Busan was an instant favourite, this small island off the coast of South Korea had a lot to offer. From the different types of street food to the beautiful ocean views, I couldn’t get enough of this place! You’ll have to check out this blog post to learn all the details!
Once I came back, I noticed I still had quite a few vacation days left over so what better way to utilize them than to do more traveling? I’ve always wanted to spend some time in New York City around Christmas so that’s exactly what I did. But days before going away, I came down with a bad cold. The timing sucked, especially for someone who doesn’t get sick often. So, I spent the first day super relaxed in the hotel, babied by my hubby 🙂 and was out and about for the next 4 days. I don’t know if I’ll be doing a blog post for New York. It was nice but the weather put a bit of a damper to the trip. We’ll be back in the summer to give it another chance though.
The last few years have been tough for me. I was being stubborn and in denial about what I really wanted. I just wanted to be me, and I wanted to be surrounded by people who had my best interest in mind. I’m free of that now, I’m happy. And I’m happy this is how my 2019 began.
I hope you guys have a magical 2019!
