Carl will be moving to Wisconsin for 5 months to do some training so we’re taking all the time we can to travel. Easter weekend is coming up so we decided to search for some Boston deals online and we wanted to keep it under $1000 between the two of us.
We found some bus tours from Tai Pan Tours for only $188.00 for 3 days and 2 nights (with accommodations at decent hotels) but since time is limited, we decided to fly there instead. Though if you’re on a budget, Tai Pan would be a great alternative.
I started off with the site I trust the most for flights, Bing’s Farecast. Farecast is an air fare predictor, and I must say, it’s pretty damn accurate. [EDIT: airfare predictor is no longer available, this link only works for US – this can be changed in your setting. Alternatively, use www.google.com/flights]
When it comes to traveling, I’m quite the procrastinator and while Farecast told me it was time to buy, I waited for two more days. The ticket prices didn’t change but the availability and time of flights did. We wanted to leave early on Friday (March 29th) and come back later in the evening on Sunday (March 31st). At first we were going to get the hotel separately so we (by we, I really mean “I”) went through the list of the top Boston hotels from TripAdvisor. To find out how I find the best deals on hotels, see my blog post here. Anyway, The Langham came up to be the best bang for the buck for $177.00 USD per night.
Going back on Farecast, I began to book our vacation. I noticed the Orbitz link and I decided to click on it. I found that the flights were going to be the same price but there was a package deal with the hotel. The hotel deal ended up being something like $340 USD ($170 per night) for 2 nights so we jumped on it! I even found a coupon code that took $25 off so it was a steal!
The deal was so good though that it worried me so I gave the hotel a call and they confirmed my reservation (always check to be safe!). Oh, also tweet @VisitMA, they can recommend some good eats.
Total Spend:
Flights: $221 x 2 = $442 (taxes incl.)
Hotel: ~$340.00 (I forgot the hotel price and it doesn’t say on the bill)
Total was $799.90 (taxes and other fees incl.) – we’ll update on the spending afterwards!
I really should get sponsored from posting all these links, but they’re just for your reference. This isn’t a sponsored post 🙂
Great post. Keep writing such kind of information on your blog. Im really impressed by your site.
You’ve performed an incredible job. I’ll certainly digg it and for my part recommend to my friends.
I’m sure they’ll be benefited from this site.
